Walnut plywood. Solid walnut doors and base. Danish oil and wax finish.
Design
This cabinet was inspired by the Design Within Reach Line Bar. The carcass is walnut plywood nosed with solid walnut, and the base is patterned after a design I used on other pieces. The half-blind dovetailed drawers have book-matched solid walnut faces, and use self-closing Blum slides. The doors are mounted with Blum 110 degree hinges. The lower cabinet shelves were designed to comfortably fit a Maraschino Luxardo bottle.
What went wrong?
I didn't have a planer when I made this, so the door pieces were tough to mill and make straight on the table saw. They look a bit warpy if you look down the front, from hand-planing to make them sit properly. Also, I allowed for the hinges when installing the drawers, but did not for the wine rack, and so I ended up having to saw several inches off the back of it after the fact.
